Trader Joe’s Plain Nonfat Frozen Yogurt
Posted May 12th, 2009 by MegPleasantly Tart with active cultures
It is my latest find at Trader Joe’s. Well, it’s not really my latest find. I’ve been eating this for a few weeks now, but have been unable to post about it because I am so overcome with excitement and happiness about it that I forget to take a picture. Finally, after finishing my nightly bowl I remembered to take a picture of the aesthetically pleasing container. It’s tart. More tart than Pinkberry. It also has active cultures too (something Pinkberry doesn’t have). You can tell this when you bite into it because it tastes so similar to yogurt. However, it is almost custard like in texture. Not what I initially expected, but delicious.

I keep walking by this in the freezer section at TJ’s but have been nervous about trying it! Sounds like I need to give it a whirl! Do you put anything on it?
Meg on May 16, 2009
You should try it! It’s very tart. I don’t put anything on it, but I am sure it would be good with fruit.

I LOVE this frozen yogurt!!! Its my new favorite indulgence! I just returned from a trip to LA where I was in a pinkberry every single day.. I found this at my TJ’s and kicked myself for not finding it soon enough!!

Lynda - Ooh! Pinkberry can become an expensive habit! I’m so happy that you found and enjoy TJ’s frozen yogurt! It is delicious :)

Try the TJ’s FroYo with either the TJ’s Cherry Preserves (also tart) OR the dynamite TJ’s Lemon Curd. You will thank me I promise you!!! For true decadence: Nutella….OMG!
I am gonna try to start making the stuff myself in my Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker…

EB - What brilliant combinations!!! I love the lemon curd (and of course nutella!) Thanks! And good luck with the ice cream making creations :)

I’ve wanted to try the TJ’s froyo but have avoided it since it only comes in quarts! Is it nice and smooth / soft like pinkberry or is it more hard frozen like ice cream? I want nice soft froyo!
It’s probably good with chocolate chips or chocolate sauce or some fresh blueberries / raspberries :)

Did you know that TJ is no longer selling this. I’m devastatted trying to llok for alternatives. Do you know any? Thanks !! :(
Meg on March 16, 2011
Emmie - It’s in between soft like pinkberry and hard like ice cream. It’s thick, but delicious. Definitely good with chocolate chips, sauce, or fresh fruit!
Mona - I didn’t know they are no longer selling it! That is tragic. I do not know of any alternatives that would be as good. We should petition Trader Joe’s!

Best Fro-Yo I ever had - and TJ seems to have DISCONTINUED it!!! let’s petition!
Ashley on July 7, 2011
Not discontinued! I bought it this morning at TJ’s in Washington, DC.

Is this Frozen Yogurt Gluten Free? It does contain corn syrup solids and tapioca maltodextrin, guar gum etc. Okay with sugar but some of them may have gluten in them. Thanks for any feedback about these ingrediants.

so far I got that guar gum and carob bean gum are ok and so is tapioca maltodextrin. Should be okay…
