Father’s Office I
Posted October 8th, 2008 by MegLast week my roommate and I went to Father’s Office in Santa Monica. Surprisingly, it wasn’t crowded at all. We ordered our drinks and sat down at a table. My Father’s Office drink is usually the Grimbergen Blonde, but they were out of it. I ended up getting the always delicious Saison Dupont. My roommate got a Duvel.
We ordered some sweet potato fries and the olives. Their sweet potato french fries are the best in the city; crispy and seasoned perfectly. I am a sucker for Father’s Office olives because they mix various olives with Moroccan spices. I love them.
We split the Father’s Office burger. It’s not the best picture, but seriously this burger doesn’t need my praise to succeed in life. It’s the tops.
Just know this:
1. It’s usually always packed and there is limited seating.
2. No substitutions on the burger. I suggest the Counter if you can’t handle life without substitutions.
3. The Father’s Office 2 in Culver City is better because it is bigger and serves cocktails.

I can’t believe after all these years I still haven’t been there. Kudos to you and Jordan for excellent beer selections (Dupont is better than Grimbergen anyway!).

P.S. Have you been to gr/eats on Sawtelle? Their sweet potato fries are really good, too, and they come as part of a mix of fried sweet potatoes, bananas, and normal potatoes, if memory serves.

I can’t believe you haven’t been there either!!! If I had known this while you were visiting, it would be different. Next time you are in Los Angeles it is imperative that you go. Grimbergen is so sweet and wonderful! But, the Dupont definitely wins because it’s on tap there right now and the Grimbergen is only bottles. So delicious!
I have not been to gr/eats on Sawtelle, but the combination you describe sounds wonderful. I love bananas! I will have to check it out soon :)

You are killing me with those pictures! I’ve lived in LA 3 years and 3 months and have sadly never been either. I think I better make a fall resolution to get there before the end of 2008 — I don’t know if I can continue calling myself a foodie if I’ve never tasted a FO’s burger!

Diana - Where did you live before? You need to really follow through with this Fall resolution. Then you can be a FOodie. :P

I grew up in Orange County, went to school in Chicago, and then moved out to LA after graduation. Okay, FO is moving to the top of my foodie “to do” list. Of course, I’m sort of thinking my next excursion may be for a Leda’s cupcake before they close on October 18th!

Oh fun! If you need someone to go to FO with you, I’m always down. (Haha, pathetic excuse to find a reason to go FO).
I’ve never had Leda’s before. I used to work at Auntie Em’s Kitchen, so I am partial to delicious cupcakes :)

I might have to take you up on that offer! I need someone to hold me to my resolution!
